Inspects and services residential electric and gas appliances to ensure safe, efficient operation and code compliance. Develops, maintains and demonstrates related skill proficiency based on changes in products, and/or technology in order to provide service excellence and demonstrates efficient, accurate and productive work practices. Completes record keeping associated with appliance service repair and functions to ensure an accurate information system is maintained; including laptop repair record information, parts inventory, and payroll time keeping.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Requires successful completion of a certificate or technical diploma program (minimum of 2 semesters or 3 quarters) at an accredited educational institution in appliance repair, or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent technical skills.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Services, inspects and adjusts residential gas and electric appliances and equipment to comply with codes and ensure superior service in terms of safety, reliability, customer satisfaction and monetary value. Develops, maintains and demonstrates related skill proficiency based upon changes in products and/or technology in order to provide service excellence. Demonstrates efficient, accurate and productive work practices.
- Promotes and accepts accountability for providing superior customer satisfaction and selling of Home Service Plus products and services (e.g., Service Plus contracts, options, maintenance products and Product Sales referrals) to customers. Maintains professional working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Completes recordkeeping associated with appliance service functions to ensure an accurate information system is maintained. Operates company vehicle safely. Maintains vehicle and parts inventory. Identifies and utilizes personal protective equipment and tools according to company standards and policies.
- Performs other related tasks including, but not limited to leak survey related to appliance work, storekeeping, transporting appliances and equipment to ensure the efficient operation of the work unit.
- Participates in training externally and internally, both field and classroom to increase job knowledge and competency. Advises and assists other employees on the job to provide technical, safety and procedural knowledge.

- Able to meet and maintain performance and attendance criteria for the job.
- Able to obtain applicable Journeyman Gasfitter’s Certificate of Competency within 18 months of eligibility.
- Able to pass required pre-employment practical appliance service test.
- Able to demonstrate working knowledge of gas and electric appliances (laundry & kitchen).
- Able to demonstrate ability to read and understand electrical schematics and understand electro-mechanical relationships.
- Able to adapt quickly and respond well to changing priorities.
- Able to communicate effectively with other employees, customers and industry representatives.
- Able to possess a valid State of Minnesota driver’s license and have a safe driving record as determined by the Company.
- Able to comply with Company and industry operating safety standards and regulations.
